- Starting June 9, 2020 an updated reporting form and manual will be put in use by the Office of Facilities Planning on the Fire Safety Application Business Portal.
- The revised form and manual include changes signed into law by Governor Cuomo in 2019. The text of that law can be found HERE
- Changes to the form and manual also reflect the recently adopted 2020 New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and the State Energy Conservation Construction Code which became effective May 12, 2020.
- Beginning June 9th, the reporting form in the fire safety portal requests additional information be reported for fire drills and distribution of guidance info to staff. These are not new requirements. They have been in place and part of the State Education Law and the New York State Fire Code for several years but were not previously reported on the form. The revised form will assist school districts in meeting these requirements.
- If a district is working in the Facilities Planning Fire-Safety Portal on June 9, 2020 during the deployment, they will lose the current session and will begin that report again. If a report has been saved to be continued later, they will log into the portal and find the saved report and it will include the new questions which will need to be completed.
- The revised manual includes updated schedule information and current code references
- If you have any questions, or encounter any difficulties, please send an email to firesafety@nysed.gov
